Program Description

The Automotive Engine Performance Technician certificate program prepares student for careers in the automotive technician field. The program introduces students to the knowledge and skills they will need as entry-level performance technicians. Topics covered include theory, diagnosis, service, and repair of fuel systems, emission systems and electronic engine controls. Program graduates will receive an Automotive Engine Performance Technician certificate and possess the qualifications of an Automotive Engine Performance Technician.

Length of Program

A minimum of 18 credit hours is required for program completion. A full-time student can complete the requirements for this program in one quarter. A part-time student can complete this certificate within three quarters.

Campus Location

The Automotive Engine Performance Technician Certificate is offered quarterly on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus.
 

Employment Opportunities

This field is wide open whether someone plans to start his or her own business or to work for an established repair facility.

Required Age: 16 years of age or older
Education: High School Diploma or GED
