Program Description

The purpose of the Cable Installation Specialist technical certificate is to provide training opportunities for persons to gain entry-level employment in the field of telecommunications. The courses in the technical certificate provide both classroom and hands-on learning in the areas of safety, copper and fiber installation, splicing, grounding and bonding practices, cabling standards and codes, terminations, testing, and troubleshooting. In addition, the student will learn the theoritcal aspects of direct current systems as related to basic concepts.

Length of Program

A total of 16 credit hours is required for completion.  A part-time student could complete this program in three quarters.

Campus Location

The Cable Installation Specialist  Certificate is offered on the Ben Hill-Irwin campus.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates are able to seek full-time employment with cable service providers.
 

Entrance Requirements
Required Age: 16 years of age or older
