Program Description

The Diesel Equipment Technology Diploma is designed to prepare students for careers in the truck service and repair profession. The emphasis is placed on combination of truck repair theory and the practical application necessary for successful employment. Graduates will receive a Diesel Equipment Technology diploma and have the qualifications of a Diesel Equipment technician.

Length of Program

A minimum of 90 credit hours is required for graduation. A full-time student can expect to complete the program in six quarters.

Campus Location

The Diesel Equipment Technology Diploma program is offered on the Coffee Campus.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates receive a diesel equipment technology diploma which qualifies them as diesel equipment technicians. As the transportation industry grows to meet the needs of customers, so will the need for qualified maintenance technicians.

Salary Range

The starting salary for Diesel Equipment Technology graduates is between $28,000 - $35,000. 

Personal Characteristics

To succeed in the Diesel Equipment Technology Diploma program and to obtain a career in the field, individuals must be willing to work in all environments, work with others in confined areas, be able to multi-task, pay attention to detail, and be very safety conscious for self, others, and property. They should also be prepared to upgrade skills to meet industry changes and possess strong customer service skills.
