Program Description

The Health Care Assisting technical certificate is designed to provide students with the opportunity to receive academic fundamentals at the diploma level in communications, mathematics, and human relations, as well as in technical fundamentals Program graduates are trained in the underlying fundamentals of health care delivery and are well prepared for entry-level employment in their field.

Length of Program

A total of 44/47 hours is required for completion of the Health Care Assistant technical certificate based on the specialty area chosen by students. This technical certificate has three specialty areas of training which include Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Receptionist, and Phlebotomy.

Campus Location

The Health Care Assisting technical certificate is offered on the Ben Hill-Irwin and Coffee Campuses. 

Employment Opportunities

Varied employment opportunities are available for graduates in hospitals, labs, nursing homes, extended care facilities, physicians' offices, industry, private patient care, and others.


Entrance Requirements

Required Age: 17 years of age or older
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Placement exam required.
