Admissions Exam - Prospective students for all diploma, degree programs and most technical certificate programs are required to complete the COMPASS exam prior to admission unless they submit acceptable ASSET, ACT, CPE, or SAT scores. The COMPASS exam should be scheduled when you complete an application and pay the application fee.

Personal Interview - An interview to discuss educational plans and concerns is scheduled with a Career Planner. This is usually conducted immediately after the Assessment and Advisement Process.

Additional Forms - Applicants for the Practical Nursing, Medical Assisting, and Cosmetology programs are required to submit additional health forms. These forms will be supplied at the appropriate time.

Admission Requirements

Education - A GED or high school diploma will not be required for admission to the school or to a program area unless specified by program standards. However, prior to graduation, all students must have received a GED or high school diploma. If you need to request a copy of your GED transcript or diploma, you may download an Application for GED/Transcript and follow the instructions on the form. You will need the Adobe Reader to download and view the application.

Age - Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to enter all programs except practical nursing, medical assisting, and fire science. To enter nursing or medical assisting programs, applicants must be at least 17.  Fire science program applicants must be at least 18.

Assessment and Advisement Process - Applicants for all diploma programs are required to complete an assessment and advisement process that determines eligibility requirements for diploma programs. Applicants not meeting eligibility requirements for regular admission may be admitted on a provisional basis or may be referred to developmental studies or adult literacy for preparation.

Health - Applicants must be able to attend school regularly and be able to perform the duties of the program and the occupation. Certain health-related programs require demonstration of good health through a physical examination.
