Vision

East Central Technical College will be the premier post-secondary institution in South Central Georgia. No resident of Atkinson, Ben Hill, Coffee, Irwin, or Wilcox Counties will have to look elsewhere for educational and training programs to prepare him or her for a career. Businesses and service providers will look to East Central Technical College for programs to support their training needs.

Mission

A member of the Technical College System of Georgia, East Central Technical College is a public, two-year postsecondary institution that provides guaranteed high-quality, hands-on, career-oriented educational programs, business and industry training programs, adult education programs, and support services that prepare our students to successfully start or enhance their chosen career. To accomplish our mission we provide certificate, diploma, and degree programs selected to support the workforce needs of Atkinson, Ben Hill, Coffee, Irwin, and Wilcox Counties; support the economic development of our five-county service area through providing customized training and resources to business and industry; and enhance the quality of life in our service area through providing literacy-based programs for adult learners and those who speak English as a second language.

Core Values

The college operates under a set of core values. These values include:

  • All individuals are unique and have intrinsic value, importance, and worth.
  • We embrace the diversity and creative nature of life as reflected through different racial and ethnic groups, gender, and cultures.
  • Work is a fundamental component of each individual’s whole being.
  • Education is an essential element in assisting individuals to reach their full potential in developing a productive career and strong work ethic.
  • All individuals in our service area should have affordable and equal access to educational opportunities.
  • East Central Technical College has the moral responsibility to provide guaranteed high-quality, hands-on, career-oriented postsecondary educational programs, business and industry training programs, and adult education programs to the residents of our service area.
  • Our students, customers, and clients are our top priority. We exist to serve our community. Our community does not exist to serve us.
  • Our instructional programs serve best when they provide training to support existing and future jobs available in our five-county service area and the immediate adjacent counties.
  • Our economic development programs serve best when they meet the specific needs of the businesses and industries located in our five-county area as well as the personal growth needs of our citizens.
  • Our adult education programs serve best when they provide individualized educational plans designed to assist those with less than adequate communication, mathematic, and literacy skills, including speakers of languages other than English, and provide residents with the ability to earn the GED and pursue postsecondary educational opportunities.
  • Quality, growth, and fiscal responsibility are operational principles that guide in the development and implementation of the college’s instructional programs, student support services, business services, facilities usage, contract training, community educational programs, and adult education services.
